What About Kids?

Kids are an essential part of your family, and they're an essential part of our ministry at DHWC. Therefore, we provide a number of opportunities for kids to encounter Jesus and grow in their faith and relationships with others.

Sunday School

On Sunday mornings, we offer a children's Sunday School class starting at 9:15 am. This group focuses on kids grades PK-5. Kids will learn Bible stories, sing songs, and do various activities together.

Worship

During the worship service, DHWC offers a nursery for kids ages 0-4. The nursery is located just outside the sanctuary, with a large window between the two so parents and kids can check on each other if needed. It's staffed by people who have passed background checks and love kids, and it's stocked with toys, movies, and other activities to give children plenty to do.

For kids and teens age 5 and older, DHWC offers an integrated worship experience. Studies have shown that separating kids and teens from the main worship service may actually increase the likelihood of a child abandoning church when they grow up, so we try to include kids in the service. Kids are encouraged to sing along with the music and participate in other elements of the service, including a children's moment at the beginning of the sermon. Activity bags are also available for kids to use during the service and include things such as books, crayons, and other activities.

Adventure Club

Kids need a place to belong. DHWC's Adventure Club, held on Wednesday nights, is just exactly that. At Adventure Club, kids in grades K-5 will explore the Bible in a highly interactive manner and then participate in a variety of activities and games.
